Beach days

With the leaves turning & starting to fall from the trees there’s no ignoring the fact that summer is nearly over. We’ve been Alberta-bound the whole summer & it has been a beauty. Last weekend our friends invited us to a local beach only 30 minutes out of the city.  Certainly not exotic but a lovely day in any case; & so much fun for the little Miss.

And to warm up we had a fire & made s’mores- can’t remember the last time I did that 🙂

Tomatoes & basil

What better to whip up then some bruschetta with fresh tomatoes & basil from my yard?  We’re out enjoying the dying days of summer while Ivy naps.
Love it.

SOS

So I pulled a bit of a weirdo move the other day.  I noticed this gorgeous plant in a yard en route to Ivy’s day home so I pulled over to the curb & started snapping photos. ..  I have no idea what it is but think it’s gorgeous.  Since a couple of you who read my blog are florists/ avid gardeners I thought I’d ask if you know what it is?  (Caroline?  Janet?  Anyone? ? Lol). I’ll hit the greenhouse if it remains a mystery because I must have this purple beauty in my yard 😁

Around town

A lazy morning

We decided cycling to our favourite festival would be easier (& more enjoyable for all) compared to park & ride bussing.  We were right on the money there- it was a perfect afternoon.

Visiting Callie- a friend bought a puppy & the 2 seem to get along very well.

Ivy got all spiffed up to have brunch with uncle Wal while he was in town for folk fest. Ivy loves her grandpa’s pancakes.

A smoking hot day at the park. ..which I haven’t returned to because we crossed paths with 2 baby coyotes. ..

Healthy hiatus

I decided to take a break from blogging.  I wasn’t very inspired & have always made other things a priority  (watching my smutty Spanish melodrama “the grand hotel” on Netflix,  doing the dishes,  reading,  or actually talking with my partner in crime) 😄. It’s taken some prodding from good friends to be back up here.  We’ll see how it goes in the coming weeks.

It’s been a ‘close-to-home’ summer enjoying the heat, festivals,  & visits with friends & family.

The latest excitement has been the FIBA Americas championship- both Al & I have been thrilled to catch some amazing basketball this week. I caught Team Canada in the semi-finals yesterday but up until then had really enjoyed the fast-paced game of both Cuba & Argentina.

Alvin & I were actually able to attend the semi-finals together. I was so excited Cuba made it to the finals after winning in OT (they’re celebrating behind us ).
