Special day

Today would have been my dear Grandmother’s 90th birthday…it is also one month since Ivy’s been born. Wow, does time fly. I’ve been feeling so much better & little Miss Ivy is starting to show her personality already- what fun!

I found so blog fodder when I was at my folks & decided I’d walk around the block to deliver some thank you cards to their generous neighbours. I’d seen a of couple tunnels dug into the snow banks & thought how much fun I’d had as a kid building snow forts. Then I had to stop to take a photo of the snow fort to end all snow forts- look at the height of the snow wall. I’m kind of curious to see the kids who’d built it but was also thankful no kids were out so I could snap a quick shot & share*smile*.

Of other note; this week I’ve taken Ivy to the gym a couple of times; good for me to get out & walk around the track. However, it was the first time using her fancy dancy stroller- which was in storage position. The car seat locks right into the base of the stroller (very slick contraption). I knew there would be a release somewhere but I had no idea where to look. Thank goodness the brand has a website full of YouTube videos for how to work their various products, ha! I thought- what did mothers do before YouTube?

Here are a couple pictures of our sweetie:

a lot to learn

Baby Ivy is two weeks old today & I’m slowly starting to feel better & find energy to start catching up on the mundane.
The past couple weeks have been a whirlwind…so this post may seem a bit disjointed.

– You know what’s better than girlfriends who fill your freezer with food? The fact that they’re amazing cooks- we’ve been having delicious meals. My girlfriend in Lusaka Kolo used to always say that your mood influenced the taste of your cooking; those 2 must’ve been in great spirits because the food is divine.

– There is so much emphasis on pregnancy/ labour/ delivery I can’t help but wonder why more people don’t talk about what to expect after. Baby Ivy had lost too much of her birth weight & Alvin & I were quite distraught about getting her back on track (now she’s a healthy happy babe & we’re so thankful). And I’ve been feeling awful. Just awful. I’d take the whole 9 months + delivery over how I’ve been feeling the past couple weeks- how come no one mentioned how miserable recovery is to me before this point? And how does anyone forget & do it again?

– Here are a couple photos of sweet Ivy (because I will not be joining Facebook)*lol*
