Our first day out picking ended up being raspberry-picking only; the choke cherries didn’t look quite ready. It was a gorgeous day & being out at the farm was lovely.
And boy oh boy did we pick a lot of berries.
After sorting through these organic berries into the pot they went.
We worked a full 8-hour day and have dozens of jars of beautiful raspberry jam to show for it. At some point mom & I decided we’d sorted enough berries & we kept some fresh. (In addition to the few we picked clean & froze immediately). I knew I’d ended up with way too many fresh berries for Alvin & I to eat within the next couple of days. So on-line I went to find suitable recipes to use up the gorgeous fresh berries. I now have coconut-raspberry breakfast bars, lemon-raspberry muffins, and a delicious frozen yogurt that was made with fresh mint- mmmm mmm good.
If you’re not a raspberry fan you don’t want to be around my place for the next little while- because it’s all you’ll be offered*grin*. (I spent the morning baking with raspberries & in the afternoon I made 2 different types of soup to can/ freeze. It feels great to have some good home cooking stored away for those days when there isn’t time for cooking).
